SKAPE Seminar: When do Citizens Help the Victims?
Does citizens' willingness to help during crises depend more on the type of crisis or on how it is framed? A nationwide survey experiment in Türkiye testing four crisis types—climate change, earthquake, economic crisis, and pandemic—against four narrative frames—control, religious, conspiratorial, and scientific—suggests that crisis context matters more than narrative framing for donation intentions: what is happening appears more consequential than how it is narrated.
